By switching to an app-only unlock method, your smartphone is no longer locked when you’re away from home.
And, in some cases, the device will be automatically unlocked.
But for many people, the lock is still there, even after they’ve been away from the house for an extended period of time.
So how do you remove it?
It’s easy, if you’re savvy.
First you need to unlock your phone from within the app you’re using.
Then, after you’ve got the device unlocked, you can unlock the device and get on with your day.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to use the lock for a limited time.
And once you’ve had your chance, you’re free to take it off again.
How do you do this?
All you need is your smartphone, a keyring, and a pair of scissors.
Once your phone has been unlocked, use the app to search for “device unlock” and enter your phone number.
You’ll then be presented with the option to “install lock on”.
The app will ask you to enter your PIN, then allow you to confirm that you want to unlock the phone.
You’ll then have to wait for the lock to unlock again, before you can use the device again.
After that, if the app hasn’t already been installed, simply press the “Install lock on” button on your phone.
Once that’s done, the smart lock will remain on the device until you’ve removed it.
The BBC explains how to do this:The lock can also be removed once it’s been deactivated.
Just swipe it off, and then return it to the home screen, then press “Reset”.
If you’re worried about leaving your phone unlocked, consider changing your PIN to “No-one’s home” and then re-enabling the lock again.
You can also choose to use an app to unlock and lock your device at home.
But, of course, this could be a bad idea.
You may find yourself unlocking your phone at home, only to find out that your lock is now locked again when you get home.
